Wizards Wrath: I’ll be writing sooner than I thought!

Good news for those of you who are looking forward to the next Fae Unbound book: I’ll be starting the writing much sooner than I thought I would!

I’m not going to set a firm date, but I planned to start working on Wizard’s Wrath in April OR as soon as I’d sold 100 copies of Dragon Tender, whichever came first. To my surprise, after only 6 weeks of sales, Dragon Tender is at 70 copies sold, and I’m going to have to get to work soon. It takes about four months for me to complete a book, so if I start in January, the book may be available in the spring instead of in the summer.

So, why don’t I just write it, right? Well–I’ve been busy! In November, I finished writing the second book of the Bad Tom series, and I’m going to get back to working on the final copy of the first one (I’d stopped while readying Dragon Tender for publication and writing the second book.) The first and second book will be published very close together, and the third book will come along a little later, depending on how ambitious I get over the holidays. That way, if you like the series, you can get the whole trilogy within the span of a month or so. I like it when authors do that. I am completely an  immediate gratification person. If you’re a George RR Martin fan like me, you’ve also known the pain of waiting far too many times.

Some of you who are reading this may be going “Seventy copies? Really, that’s all the books she’d sold?” and thinking that’s a low number. However, as an unknown author who self-publishes, I am absolutely thrilled when anyone buys the book. It tells me they liked the one before it. Every single sale gives me a little thrill, and I don’t think that feeling will ever go away, no matter how many copies I sell.

Thank you for giving me that good feeling about what I do! If you celebrate anything at this time of year, I hope you have a great time doing it.

P. S — James looks nothing like that guy with the fireball above. But it was the only picture I could find of a guy with a fireball. And guys with fireballs are cool. Very, very cool.
